What’s the best thing about studying Business Management at Cardiff?
The best thing has been the collaboration and engagement. Despite the challenges of Covid, the Business School made sure we still had access to face-to-face learning, seminars, and group work. That interaction with others has been key to my learning experience.
Can you tell us about your experience playing cricket at Cardiff?
Sure! I play for both the Cardiff University team and the UCCE team, which includes Cardiff Metropolitan and the University of South Wales. It’s been an incredible experience, playing good cricket and feeling that sense of camaraderie. Cricket has really taught me the importance of teamwork, which ties into what I’ve learned in my Business Management course.
Can you share a memorable project you worked on?
Recently, we did a project for a Business and Entrepreneurship module where we had to create an “Apprentice-style” business plan as a group. We then pitched it in a “Dragon’s Den-style” presentation to a panel of judges to try and get them to invest in our business. It was a fantastic learning experience, especially in terms of teamwork and applying what we’ve learned in a real-world setting.
What was your biggest takeaway from that?
I have learned that my ideas aren’t always right. Just because something makes sense in your head doesn’t mean it’s the best solution. It’s important to listen to others and combine ideas to come up with something that works for everyone. That’s a skill I’ll carry with me into my future career.
